you do not need it. But there is no benefit for the hotel to remove the phone and TV. It probably increase the cost, as they need to remove the TV and phones from the room.

BTW, may be OP can consider Tune Hotel. You need to pay for every single thing, including usage of aircon. But even that I do not think they will remove the TV and aircons from the room.

Wrapping up a stay at The Andaman now. My key card folio came with a card with instructions on how to text them with any needs. I haven't used it so I can't report on how well it works.
