Staying here now, so thought I would provide some info/observations for others who are thinking of booking here or have an upcoming stay.
We booked a 1-bedroom cash rate (not here on a package/promo deal) and we were upgraded to a 2-bedroom at check-in. Didn’t expect any Platinum upgrade, so that was a nice surprise. The 1BR units have a smaller bathroom with a tub/shower combo and a single sink. In the 2BR you get that same bathroom plus another larger bathroom with double sinks, a roomy shower, and a free-standing soaker tub. So if you want the larger bathroom, the 2BR (or 3BR) is the only way to get it. Looks like you get the same living room and patio/balcony with both 1BR and 2BR. The 3BR have longer balconies and are ocean front.
Construction is done but only the south part of the resort is open, and seems to be mostly 2BR units. Could be why we got the upgrade. The rest of the resort opens later this year. Right now they are just doing interior work on them, putting in furniture, etc.
Speaking of furnishings, it’s all nice and new, of course. Slightly modern but with a Hawaiian feel in the wood colors and some retro styles.
More logistics details: parking is $15/day for self park or $20 for valet. Waived the first night but otherwise no discount for SPG elites. They do offer Platinums daily breakfast (full buffet), some points, or a local gift. Buffet is not huge, but adequate and good enough. They participate in MAGC but only for breakfast, not points. If you take the Platinum daily breakfast but decline housekeeping, there’s no added benefit. As expected, no late check out at all.
Hmm, what else? Dinner at the restaurant is pretty nice with some good choices, but Pulehu to the south is a little better. You can do room charges for meals between any of the Starwood properties here.
Oh, one bad thing: some rooms do have mountain (parking structure) views. We got lucky and did not get one of those, but I would be hesitant to stay here in the future unless I could be sure to NOT get one of those views. Not sure if they differentiate the views as room classes when you book.

Got a mailer yesterday with the $898 offer and I'm seriously considering it. I don't have a date set but I'll probably want to go August-October 2018. My main concern is availability. If I put down a deposit and then call in April for September dates, it would stink if my dates aren't available.
Also, when paying for this offer (or at least the $498 deposit), what does the charge show up as? I have the SPG AMEX offer for $60 off $300.

I also received a mailer. Do they have any blackout dates? I called in this number, 800.301.5746, the agent told me that I can only book dates ranging from Jan 2018 till Oct. 2018. Not sure if this is a hard limit, since I'd like to book this December. Thank you in advance!

Just got the snail mail offer as well!
Amex should send an email notifying if you've "redeemed" your Amex offer as soon as the charge hits pending.
I'm already planning on booking so the $60 back would be the cherry on top. But either way, let us know!

How do I get an invitation to here and learn more about it?
I might be rare... but I'm genuinely interested in learning more about these time share programs. I've shied away from it before, but maybe let's do it at this new resort for next 20 years to be with kids as they grow up. I'm still young! Thanks!
I tried calling post #41 , but they said must get invitation or from someone that owns one already, etc.

Would the stay & nights at these Westin villas count toward the SPG Elite program and show up as a reservation in my online/app login?

Ah... thank you! I also managed to find an old email invitation to the other Westin time share nearby and called to book that one now.
