The 289-room LUX Tower, one of the three towers onsite, will undergo a conversion and renovation and reopen as W Las Vegas in September 2016. The W will have its own dedicated entrance, lobby, meeting space, pool and facilities and will be managed by Starwood while the remainder of the SLS will remain under its current management. Discussion here.

The SLS Las Vegas, a Tribute Portfolio Resort will be leaving Marriott on August 17, 2018. Reservations for dates on or after August 17, 2018, will not be eligible for Starwood Preferred Guest membership benefits, award redemption or accrual.

This is incorrect. Parking is always free at the SLS/W for everyone, whether you're staying at the hotel or not. The hotel's website (https://slslasvegas.com/faqs/) also states this in their FAQ section:
Parking is always free at SLS Las Vegas. We offer two parking garages, one accessible via Las Vegas Boulevard and one accessible via Paradise Road. Both provide spacious parking spots. Casino and hotel entrances are located on ground level, accessible via the parking garage elevators. Valet services are offered at both entrances as well.

Looks like they may go back to the old name:

Meruelo agreed to buy the Las Vegas property in May, with plans to consider changing the hotel's name back to the Sahara Hotel and Casino again. "We will be using the SLS name for another year and will evaluate our options with the brand moving forward," he said. Meruelo will also appoint a new general manager for the hotel in the coming months.

....such a difference as usually I would have no issues in looking up a BRG and sending it in............now it feels like a chore to go through BS just to get it approved and such.
I would have never started to look at "wherever" I could find the cheapest hotel ( the best cheapest hotel that is) with being with SPG. They had my business, period. Marriott has definitely not made me feel that way......whatsoever. Not that the SLS change has any bearing on that as these changes occur but just saying..........

Cancelled! I sent in a LNF rate for the Renaissance and see what happens. Never stayed there but I'm not paying $200.00 / night elsewhere. I'm going to try it out just for a couple of nights and then used my comps at Bally's.
I was always willing to pay to stay at the SPG properties especially the Westin even when I had super cheap or comped rates at some of the Caesars properties( I actually liked that place and always stayed on a BRG ) - Westin has changed a lot over the last year and a half....I guess it is no more chasing points/status or whatever it was that I was doing. Just the September week alone I saved probably $500.00 by not chasing the status etc.,
I never looked at it closely over the years because it didn't matter...........I can't imagine the cost savings when I just want to find the best hotel at the best price based on what I am looking for. I feel like I just broke up from a real long relationship!
