now 144 out of 276

was interesting timing >
oct 28 - designhotels announced (with release of Q3 financials)
nov 16 - merger announced

i imagine if there are revenue increases marriott is showing to non SPG designhotels

some hotels considering signing may be watching marriott and merger in general
some might be waiting to see merged frequent guest program for example

Amazing !. This could mean that SPG is back in Denmark after 7 years without any Starwood precense.

BTW, This is a highly expected brand new development is a classic building in a perfect location right next to museum, harbour, Tivoli and railway station.

The Thief Oslo Norway

Glad to see all the additional hotels available in Scandinavia. Would love to see the Thief in Oslo join as I have a trip coming up this summer. Let's hope more of these wonderful hotels get added to SPG!!^^

I know it's still fresh but I wonder if Design Hotels have any analysis already regarding the benefits (or not) of this partnership with SPG?

It sure made me stay a lot more with some hotels that I would usually "skip" and book an SPG or Marriott property.

I wonder how availability will be using SPG points at this property.

Even using Choice points for this property which is a Nordic Choice property -- and a pet project of the Norwegian owner of Nordic Choice Hotels -- has become very tough.

marriott will definitely be giving information re revenue increases to unsigned hotels

GUWonder, few entry level rooms/suites? wont be that long before marriott makes changes

although who knows what may happen behind scenes before programs actually change

We have an upcoming stay at Hotel Teatro in Porto, a booking we made several months ago. We understand it has limited SPG participation as seems to be the standard for Design Hotels. I am expecting points, stay credit and welcome points only. When checking my reservation on the Android App last night I got a fright when it came up as having No SPG participation with no points or stay credits.
I checked the printed version of my original reservation and it definitely says Limited Participation. I then checked spg.com and found my reservation was as I thought but have printed off the T& C page in case there are any issues.

Funnily enough on the spg app it is now back to limited participation and I cannot see any of my upcoming stays on spg.com. I'm sure all will be well and will repot back after my stay on the hotel itself.

Personally i will avoid all Design hotels unless they fully participated in SPG.

I don't think any Design Hotels fully participate, do they? But I, for one, am happy to have some really interesting hotels with partial participation. I'm booked at 2 very intriguing hotels in a country that doesn't have many interesting hotels. I was able to book a base room at each hotel, then contact each and get a higher level room with a cash upcharge. I'm ok with that. In fact, I'm delighted to have these options.

Same here, I love to have more options, and for some cities, more affordable options. Thinking about Paris for example where most of the SPG properties are just crazy expensive.... W Opera, Westin, Prince de Galles are all EUR300 or above depending on dates. Where as some of the Design Hotels are around EUR200. The only SPG cheaper is the Meridien Etoile but I don't like its location....

I'll stick with SPG for full benefits whenever possible but for some locations, Design Hotels are good alternatives.
