If there is, I will come back and update the thread. You would have to stay an even number of nights, though, to receive the most benefit.

SL, I'm not sure that is right. I think that the Redeeming is Believing 50% off is limited to one night per certificate. This is from the terms and conditions:

This award is redeemable for one Award Night at a 50% discount (half the number of Starpoints normally required for the property). You may earn up to three 50%-off awards during the promotion period, to be combined or used individually.

Maybe the rules are different for different emails?

Okay, here's the difference:

Redeeming is Believing 1 is where selected members who have 2 eligible stays during the promotion period will earn one "Two For One Award." This award allows the member to redeem for two free nights at the Starpoint cost of one free night in the category of their choice. Maximum one award for this promotion.

Redeeming is Believing 2 is where selected members who have 2 eligible stays during the promotion period will earn one "Half Off Award." This award allows the members to redeem for one free night at 50% Off the regular Starpoint cost that night in the category of their choice per award. Maximum three awards for the promotion for 3 total nights at half-off the normal number of Starpoints.

So, the first one has a limit of two nights and the second one has a limit of up to three nights using all three awards.

Do you happen to know the answer to kube's question above? Can you confirm whether the Bonus Starpoints 2/1 - 4/30 promotion will net 8,000 or 27,000 points after 5 stays? I can see how it could be interpreted either way... but I assume it is probably 8,000 b/c 27,000 would be too good to be true...

One can only imagine the meeting at which these bonuses were pitched and agreed upon. Did Starwood hire a bunch of former EPA regulation drafters? This whole thing strikes me as being quite daft, and having missed the Chat due to travel downunder, I come back to find anyone can now opt for any one of these promos. What have they been putting into the water down in Austin these days, Lurker? Can't make your job any easier!

Yeah, that would be sweet, wouldn't it?

From what I can tell here, we are actually speaking of two different targeted promotions at the 8,000 total bonus Starpoints level after 5 stays. The bonus increases incrementally on one as follows:

1 stay = 500 pts; 2 stays = 1,500 pts; 3 stays = 3,000 pts; 4 stays = 5,000 pts; **OR** 5 stays = 8,000 pts. Earnings are NOT cumulative.

The other is very similar:

1 stay = 2,000 pts; 2 stays = 4,000 pts; 3 stays = 6,000 pts; 4 stays = 7,000 pts; **OR** 5 stays = 8,000 pts. Earnings (again) are NOT cumulative.

Then we have the 5 Stays for 10K promotion:

This one is "all or nothing" for 10,000 bonus Starpoints. You stay five qualifying times or no portion of a bonus is earned.

It depends on how many stays you think you will be able to make (or have made) from February 1 - April 30, 2002 as to which is more beneficial for you personally.

If a Platinum member booked his/her qualifying stays online at www.spg.com and asked for 500 Starpoints on all five stays as a Platinum welcome amenity of choice, you could add an extra 5,000 Starpoints in bonuses plus the 8,000 Starpoints bonus for a total of 13,000 possible extra Starpoints above and beyond what was spent at the hotel. (somebody, quick, check my math... )

I have not been staying in Starwood for a while... But I have couple of stays coming up which I would like to make use of promotion exceptions....
Can you give me exception for promotion...
1 stay = 2,000 pts; 2 stays = 4,000 pts; 3 stays = 6,000 pts; 4 stays = 7,000 pts; **OR** 5 stays = 8,000 pts. Earnings (again) are NOT cumulative.
Thanx...

Send me an email with the information I requested and we will see.

As a reminder, this was:

your Flyertalk user id
your Starwood Preferred Guest account number
your real name
your email address
your targeted promotion request, 1 only please

Providing some of this precludes having the other information, I know, but it's best to be as thorough as possible.

By the way, if you were previously targeted for another of the 1st and 2nd quarter promotions, don't bother asking to trade or add another one.

Starwood Lurker,

I am one night away from PLAT level using the stay 10 nights, get 20 nights' credit promotion. Super promo, and though I know the die-hard SPG PLATS are not thrilled about this specic promo thinking it will dilute the PLAT level, and I follow that logic and don't disagree, you can be sure I am elated at crossing this threshold. Not to mention this promo has explicitly diverted some projected Hilton (NYC) stays to the SPG brand last month...and are doing so for stays coming through this summer (more NYC stays) and, I can assure you, now that I will be SPG PLAT...Hilton will lose entirely until such time as I might ever lose PLAT status w/ spg for qualifying reasons. So - has the promo achieved its desired effect ? I have to think it has - taken critical business away from a competitor (Hilton in my case), turned me into a die-hard spg follower (ok, fanatic), and introduced me to a "W" whereas I likely would never have considered it for a stay. I could go on but I think you know the success & momentum you guys have created in your SPG program, and more specifically for my interest, in your co-branded Starwood/AMEX card. WOW.

Anyway - with this background - I have a quick question - As far as I can tell, and from the email you sent me in response to my request to being added to one of these targeted promos that I was not targeted for...apparently this specific 2for1 "go for PLAT" promo was so potent/exclusive a promo that I was not allowed to be enrolled in any other concurrent promo ?

Is that correct ?

Then, if so, once I hit my 20credit nights end of this week (ie 10th stay since March 1st)....will that effectively "close out" my PLAT "run" and free me up for any other promos ? Or am I doomed to stay in this MAR/APR window, content to have finished this one "super" promo...and have to wait for May and later promos to start up ?

I would typically send this via private email, but thought others in this same DOUBLE YOUR STAYS/GO FOR PLAT promo would benefit to understand this unique promo and its special rules.

I received this promotion as well. However, my profile still shows I need 3 more nights to earn my 2 Free Fridays. Was this promo inadvertently sent or has the web site just not been updated?

Perhaps this is Starwood's way of ensuring we continuing staying with them after achieving the 10 nights for the Free Weekends promo. In the past, there was no further incentive [other than normal benefits and good hotels] to stay at Starwood properties through the balance of the promo. This ensures ongoing patronage, and program hopping. I've just started a series of trips after taking March off, but will easily accumulate 10 nights by the end of May, and another 5 nights in June is quite plausable before things slow down for the summer. Another 5K will certainly help replenish my account after having drawn down almost half of it with transfers of Starpoints into my QF account:

5 stay/10K targeted bonus, FreeFridays and Saturdays, 500 pt iNet booking bonus/stay, 500 pt Plat bonus/stay, and now likely another 5K in this bonus: 20K plus two free weekends! Plus the basic points for these stays: That's half my Concorde award, plus the hotel somewhere in Europe! [Takes some of the sting out of removing all those Starpoints from my account.]

Thanks Starwood

Rats, I didn't get the email, and I have earned the two free Fridays. I'm assuming it's targeted.

I got that email too, but it came nearly three weeks after I got credited for the 5 nights to get my two Free Fridays. So for those who haven't gotten it, maybe there's just a lag between when you earn Free Fridays and when you get the offer.

It's tough.. I like Starwood, and especially the customer service, but Marriott has so many more properties and usually a little better rates, and on top of that they extended my Platinum status too. To complicate things further, sometimes it's a lot easier to stay at Hilton due to their location. Argh! I'm getting a headache.

ILUVCITIBANK, you are indeed done, unless of course you got another email advising you of another targeted promotion like some others here did.

Some will get this, some will get another offer, some will get nothing at all. That's the nature of targeted promotions.

Before anyone asks, I am not authorized to make any exceptions.
