platinum recognition

I have had two stays recently with starwood where my platinum status was not recognized ie no upgrade and no welcome amenity on arrival. Platinum reconition seems to be hit and miss.

I was always recognized as a Platinum member, get upgraded to suit and get my welcome amenity on arrival..also late check out till 7:00 PM...no problem.... do u stay mostly in sheraton's or westin's?... I found that westin staff better than sheraton staff...

the other question is when you check in does it show that you are platinum in there system?...if yes and you dont get upgraded, thats strange!...which hotels did you stay at?..are they in the US?...more detalis please..

Good Luck

The W in NY and the sheraton in Norfolk Virginia were the hotels and the reservations were made through the platinum desk. At the sheraton the room had not been cleaned,if you can believe it,you have to be mad at your money to stay there. I never had the problem at a Westin.

wow... same post...8 times!!??..hehe

ok...dont know about the sheraton in VA...but always call the 800 number and complain.

the W hotel in NYC...very nice hotel...I like it...but it seems that they always have problems with reservations!!...it happend to cat man, one of my friends..and my self...

the manager told me that yes I had a reservation but no rooms available...he sent me to other W hotel and Upgraded me to suit...the W hotel that I moved to was awful...called the manager back telling him that i am not satisfyed with the hotel(no room service, no restaurant, no bar, no valet parking!!!!!)..so he said (..ok..your stay gonna be on us).. I thanked him and told him but not in that hotel..he said thats all that he can offer...called the 800# and complained 5 min. later I got a phone call from starwood telling me that i can go back to my original W hotel...

most of my stays are in the westin...they have better standers than the sheraton..

good luck
