Printed loyalty cards are so old school now. This is the digital age when everything happens with mobiles. There is no reason for SPG to spend money on this and there is no reason for guests to carry this anymore.

SPG is promoting spendiing by members when not a hotel guest as a way to earn points. As pointed out early in this thread, that is probably the only scenario where I could see wanting a physical card. I have read several posts on Flyertalk where getting the points was difficult. I would prefer to get a receipt with my SPG # included without handing over my mobile device.

Why would you have to hand over your device, just show them the pic?

I agree, I dont think cards are needed any longer. It should be linked to your spg account link to your device.

Granted, so people in their late 50s and up wont be up on all the electronic media so there should be a choice, like paperless billing, but overall I think account information should be electronic. In the event of a loss or stolen phone on holiday I think there should be some provisions introduced.

Why's that? My current HHonors card has a Feb 2016 expiration. Anyone qualifying for a new level would get a card with an expiration date 2 calendar years in the future, no? Is my math off?

I went through the process to design my own card, but my Passbook card still shows as some property in Thailand. I guess they haven't worked out all of the kinks yet?

When you log out of the app and back on, does the property change to the one you selected to design?

The property changes in app, but not in Passbook. I would like it to appear in Passbook as well because I love that picture of the St. Regis NY. Also, not having the image appear in Passbook kinda defeats the point of us designing our cards, since Passbook is the place where iOS users will most likely access their cards from.

If you accidentally select the wrong design, or if you change your mind, or if it select the wrong one for you (such as my case), or if you decide you want the digital card AND a physical card, then you can login to SPG.com then My Account then Request a Card and walk through the process again (and again and again).
