We would gladly follow up if there is proof that indicates a breach carried out by a SPG employee.

Any updates on this?

No updates yet. I was told I was supposed to receive an email, but haven't received anything. I called last week again and was told they were still investigating. All communication has been from my end, not Starwood.

I hope it clears up soon, I have an upcoming trip at a Starwood property.

To be accurate, it was the CC company that made us whole, SPG tossed us some points as a form of apology for the breach.

I'm confused. Why was the credit card company responsible for this?

I SO wished the cops were interested enough to show up and arrest the ticket holder, but they were not interested in doing that.

If it wasn't for the pax probably being an "innocent" party here most times, I'd suggest wait and get them on the return! People will pay more to get home than just turn around and go home.

Wow just fantastic customer service on this from SPG. Notified them on Saturday about the fraud on my account and they asked me today to set up a new account which I did and within 20 minutes tonight they merged my old account and gave me the points back that had been stolen. ^

The answer is right here in this thread if you really want to know. Just follow the links back to OOME's post where he explained the issue they had.

Still not resolved. I called yesterday and there's been no movement. Hopefully, it gets resolved before my upcoming trip.

The agents are never clear on this and I've refused to furnish the details until they make clear what exactly they want.

What I have now been doing is when I am on chat and the SPG PLT associate asks for my verbal password to process an award, I go into my profile, change the verbal password to something random, provide that to the associate and when they are done with the award processing I change the verbal password back. This prevents anyone from knowing my verbal password should someone call in and try to snipe my SPG points.

I know this is a somewhat delayed response, but after reading through this thread I wanted to state that a password can be a thousand characters long and it won't help if there is a key logger on the machine or a packet capture device on the public wifi.

If you want a higher level of security, only log onto web sites from a personally owned device and never use public wifi. Doing those things will only ensure you are not the cause of the breach, but it helps....
