Hello All,
The promotion won't work for regaining the status. If you are already Gold, it is not possible to sign up for it.
However, if you have Preferred Status and are located in AP (excluding Japan), you are welcome to sign up for this promotion.

I am Gold now, and assuming by 31-Dec-2014 I do not clock enough nights/stays to requalify as Gold. Hence, I will be downgraded to Preferred next year right. So can I make use this promotion (i.e. is there any exclusion for previous Gold member in T&C, so far I did not see any)? If the answer is yes, when can I utilizing this promotion, from January 2015 or I ahve to wait until March 2015, as the Gold status valid until Feb-2015.

Alice, i understand we cannot requalify using the promotion. My question am I eligible for this promotion once I downgraded from Gold?

I apologize for the confusion.

So the question is when I will be downgraded to Preferred if I do not qualify as Gold in 2014? 1-Jan or 1-March?

Would you know if this promo be used multiple times? E.g. used once before to hit SPG Gold status. Now said status has elapsed hence I'd like to enrol again? (Possibly with a different World MC)

Does the first year of Gold status count towards lifetime Gold?

I'm trying to register for the promo but it requests a "bank promotion code" which wasn't there before (and my issuing bank has no idea where to get this from).
Any suggestions?
Cheers

This promo is for Asia Pacific members and the bank promotion codes are only available through banks in Asia Pacific. Therefore you would need too call your issuing bank and ask for the dedicated MasterCard team. They would provide the promo codes once they have checked that you are a valid cardholder of a World/World Elite Card.
In any case that the bank is unable to provide you with the promotion code, please email us with the name and location of the bank.

It's interesting that the whole elite category thing has been devalued regularly over the last 20 years
Twenty years ago the then no-fee American Express Card got you points and Gold status by itself. Yes, I have been around here that long.
Now it takes a spend of $30k per year plus the annual fee just to keep gold.
I have been doing that but find out that others, somewhere else, who have no loyalty history with SPG just get it for a click on a credit card website.
I guess that it was time to find what long term loyalty is actually worth.
Eyes now open.

I dropped you an email on the issue of Bank promotion code. I have a Singapore issued Citibank World Mastercard and Citibank credit card team has zero clue about the promotion and the code even though they got a link on the credit card site to this exact promotion for SPG Gold sign up. Very frustrating if this is so poorly understood / communicated by issuing banks to the eligible card holders.
Cheers, demue

Lurker, the link in the email now just goes to the SPG homepage? How do we book the stay after successfully registering?
