I just got backdated credit for 9 nights that the SPG system failed to credit me since March 1st due to this change in policy--sick play.

William,

Does the second room credit count towards promotions ie if you have chosen stay 6 for 3K if you book 2 rooms for 6 nts each would you get 6K?

Thanks

Wow, this is pretty sweet. Definitely is going to make it easier for some people to get to Platinum, but for those of us that travel in large groups/get multiple rooms this is a great addition.

might be "easy", but c'mon, how many normal people (i.e. non flyertalkers, and even most flyertalkers) are going to do that? and how many other than flyertalkers would call 3 x 34 easy?

I'm going to have to give a YMMV answer on that one. There are going to be some where it does count today and others where it may not count in the future.

First, this is great news for families who book multiple rooms for kids, grandparents, etc! How would this work for promotions that are based on nights/stays? For example, one of the current "Nice Choice" options is 3x points if you stay 15 nights.

Would three paid rooms booked at the same time for 5 nights be sufficient to meet the 15 night threshold? Or, do these additional rooms somehow count just toward elite status, but not toward promotions?

Thanks!

(Oops, just saw a similar question asked before mine - look forward to an answer!)

Thanks for this clarification, William.

Now one more clarification, if you will:

If someone books one room on an eligible paid rate and another as an award or cash+points, does s/he get credited for two nights or one?

How do I get credit?

Hi,

i stay at the Westin Chosun in Seoul every month and usually book at least 2 rooms for myself and a colleague. Last month it was 3 rooms. I have never received credit for more than one room. At the end of the stay, I pay the bill for all rooms with my CC. I should have several stay/night credits due to me under this new policy. How do I go about requesting the missing credits?

^ We sometimes book 2-3 rooms traveling with family. I'll probably barely requal this year so this will be helpful.

Are all rooms in your name? If so, you should be abel to claim credit by sending in your folios. The new rules benefit someone who books multiple rooms under his/her own name, not just paying for someone else.

2.2 Eligible Charges.
2.2.a. During a stay at an SPG Participating Hotel, "Eligible Charges" are charges incurred by an SPG Member on his/her folio for up to three rooms:

It would be two as long as one room is occupied by the SPG member and all room charges are paid and settled by the member..

Hmmm, I kind of have mixed views on this policy. It seems to be making Plat (both annual and lifetime) even easier to get...

so basically that means that one can get plat status by booking 3 rooms on a 17 night stay....

this has been confirmed by my ambassador & one of the lurkers as well....
Thank you for starting this thread. I had no idea. For all the jibberish that SPG promotes, it's amazing they didn't make a BIG deal about this.

This is potentially huge.
