Countdown to the launch of SPG New Benefits

Dear Members,

SPG is very excited for our new benefits to be launching in just a few short hours. We expect SPG.com to be updated with Lifetime Status in applicable member profiles, plus Suite Night Award and Your24 request capabilities (for those eligible) among a few other small changes you'll see. These should be appear approximately around midnight Eastern Standard Time, however be patient if you don't see the changes right away.

Regarding the new Suite Night Awards benefit, SPG is ensuring that we have maximized the available upgraded room types eligible for request at hotels and resorts around the world to best serve our members. We are continuing to add upgraded room types to the system, so over the next few days you could see an increase in room types when requesting to use your Suite Night Awards for a particular hotel.

As always, we look forward to your feedback, and please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns you may have.

Have 2012 status downgrades already taken place? I.e., if you didn't hit gold last year, have you already been demoted? Have a stay coming up in like 2 hours and was hoping I'd get away with last year's status because the website still shows gold.

My guess is that you won't get your 50% bonus points, but the hotel will still recognize you as gold and offer you free internet/250pts/free drink if you want. They're supposed to always have your latest status, but in practice this has not been my experience.

At the Sheraton Pleasanton right now, they have balloons up in the lobby. I thought it was for an event, but apparently it's to celebrate the launch of the new benefits!
