The Elite Thank You program ended on December 31, 2017. You have until June 30, 2018, to award your Thank You certificates to SPG associates.

A great way to say thanks -

You expect and deserve outstanding service from SPG®. So when an associate goes above and beyond to make your stay, it’s nice to have a special way to express your thanks.

That’s what Elite Thank You certificates are all about. Print yours now to make the day of every deserving SPG associate who receives one.

Remember: All SPG associates and customer care agents are eligible to receive Elite Thank You certificates. Enjoy giving them — and we’ll keep looking for ways to earn them.

From T&C :"however, the certificates cannot be used as a form of bribery or fraud, nor may the certificates be sold in any manner"

I still fail to see why this being flagrantly promoted as a "benefit" by SPG.

Firstly, when I'm told there is a "benefit", I fully expect that it's something where I'm the recipient. Something that I have the liberty to give to others is clearly not a benefit to me, but my beneficiary.

Secondly, to recognize and reward good service should be something that one readily does. It certainly shouldn't be something that one does only as SPG Gold or Platinum (if so, the world is a sad, sad place indeed). I personally have, as I'm sure many other travellers do as well, taken the liberty acknowledge - verbally or in writing - whenever a staff shows exemplary service. So if SPG wants its members to do more of this, it's clearly a favour they are requesting of SPG members, not a benefit of SPG membership.

The positioning is all wrong.

Travel is in the details. And when all the details are expertly delivered, your experience is extraordinary. That's what you expect as an SPG® Gold member, and when you see it, you want to recognize it. So here's a Golden opportunity to celebrate those SPG associates who really deliver — whether it's a speedy phone reservation, an impeccable dining experience or an extra-efficient check-in.

• Go to spg.com/platinumthankyou to request your Gold Thank You Certificates instantly, or have them mailed to you.
• Present a certificate to any associate anytime you'd like to reward exceptional service.
• Or give a certificate by phone or email — just provide the code printed on the back.

And finally, a round of applause to you — for being among the best of our guests and taking part in this special elite benefit. Enjoy your travels with us."

Now, when has the ability to recognize good service by SPG hotel staff become an "special elite benefit"?? Am I the only person who rolls my eyes at the way that this campaign is being spun around by SPG?
Am I the only person who rolls my eyes when someone starts a new thread on a subject that has been previously discussed - in detail??

Elite gold & platinum "Thank You You've Made My Stay" certificate cards

The subject wasn't the cards but the recent email campaign that touts the cards as a "benefit" for SPG elites.

However they phrase it I think these vouchers will indeed be a benefit to us loyal members - perhaps not immediately - when their associates are encouraged to go above and beyond when serving us.

Personally, benefits can extend beyond myself. I view this "feature", if you will, gives me the benefit of acknowledging the service of others without having to dig into my own pocket to do so. So you could consider this as SPG "currency" that has value. Maybe more so to the recipient, but value all the same.

Exactly. The recipient of the card gets 500 Starpoints. By my valuation these are worth $14 each.

In countries where it is inappropriate to tip, or in countries where it is appropriate, but not to certain staff, these cards let you express your pleasure with a particular staff member with an alternate form of currency that is acceptable. Thus, I view this as a nice benefit of being elite.

I wonder how much can an employee do with 1 card? Maybe need to accumulate a few just to be able to redeem for something?

How do we give a certificate by e-mail (i.e., to whom at the specific hotel do we send the code)? One of the parking valets at check-out was extraordinarily helpful to us yesterday in helping install an infant car seat, even when our son was fussy and crying -- he wouldn't accept a tip from us, saying that he had young children as well, but we'd still like to recognize his efforts somehow. Also, is it possible to give multiple certificates?

I think this is pretty much all answered in the first post of this thread, but after reading it, if you have any additional questions, let me know.

Ah yes, did not realize there was a FAQ on page 1. It still doesn't say how we give them over e-mail though, only how to do so over the phone (this was overseas, so I'd rather not make the long-distance call if possible).

I think you make the request for the email version when you go to register for them. Let me know if that isn't apparent when you go through the online process.

Use or discard? "Thank You!" cards to reward SPG employees 2011

I just unearthed some older paper cards given to SPG members to acknowledge great work by an SPG employees. Can we still use them as another way to say "thank you" or is this program over? ... and shame on me for not being able to use these on the spot for many helpful folks.

Quick search didn't yield posts on this topic (which may be a hint that that program is long gone)

There's no date on the cards (other than a copyright 2011)

Thanks in advance!

Continue to use them, unless there is an expiration date. See the first post of this thread.
