Something different. This looks like the same offer northshorepa's SO got.

Interesting promotion. I'm wondering if the 25% off redemption applies to suites? We are headed to So. Cal over NYE and have, in the past, reserved a suite at the Sheraton Carlsbad for 20,000 points/night...any idea if we could get it for 15,000 points?

The T&C's of the offer state this is for standard award rooms only.

I find it strange that SPG decided not to let us combine the 25% off award with the 5th night free! It seems like for anyone staying 5 nights, there is not much value in choosing 25% off rather than 5th night free. Nonetheless, the 25% off is for stays of 1-5 days...

Thanks, SPG. :)

I got the 'standard' choices. I would've chosen the redemption discount if you didn't have to earn it after 5 stays... I've been wanting to redeem some points in the near future. Alas, I'll be choosing the 4K points, which in itself is quite a good offer for me...

Also, I'd have thought 4000 points is worth a lot more than $50...?

silverfalls Jul 12, 2010 4:07 pm

Picked up 4K points...Since I have already completed 5 stays in July. I expect the points to post in another 2 to 3 weeks time...^

I am in for the next SPG:D:D:D:D

Just to make sure...

In the T&C's it says

SPG Promotion Terms and Conditions:

4,000 bonus Starpoints®: Registered member can choose to earn 4,000 bonus Starpoints after five (5) eligible stays. Stays must be at an SPG® participating property from 7/1/10 through 12/31/10. Non-participating properties can be found at SPG.com under program terms and conditions, section 5.1. Bonus Starpoints will be credited to the member's account within 2–3 weeks of the stays posting to the member's Starwood Preferred Guest® account.

but when I registered for this promotion it said

"Congratulations — you are now registered to earn 4,000 bonus Starpoints® after you complete five stays between now and 12/31/10.

Just to confirm, do I have to complete 5 more stays between now and 12/31/10 to get the 4k points or will the 4k points be posted in my account as I have already completed 5 stays between July 1st 2010 and today?

Thanks in Advance

The promo is then not such a big promo. There are not many Cat 1 properties, Need 10,000 points to get a Cat 4 room, and check for yourself, Cat 4 is just the mid-range hotel, a 3 star hotel?

But anyway, better than nothing.

You need to complete 5 stays between July 1 - December 31, 2010 and register before December 31st.

Thanks for the 4000 points SPG. Not a crazy enough promotion to get me to change my booking habits, but I'm appreciative of the bonus nonetheless.

+1 agree

Very similar to HH offer that ended 30 june

5 stays and you got 5000 bonus miles (slightly better) which could be coupled with a free night every FOUR stays (slightly worse)

When the brilliant 25000 points for tens stays comes back^!!!!!!!!!!

Anyways thanks SPG for decent "coupled" promo^

+1 alot less then I thought theyd throw our way. At least it should have been like in yrs past a 50% off and not 25% off

as others have said if youre gonna be having a 5 night stay on pts it pretty much works out to what a 4 night + the 5th night free would have been.

So I see it either take the 4k which is really a bonus of 800 pts , in the past it was usually 1000 pts, so anyway its cut its not as good as the hype was

Yea its better then nothing but not by much

Bout the only good thing to it is to force the 5 stays by 7/31 when they count as well towards the 3QFNs. I got 2 down and will simply do another 3 by 7/31.

BMWPSU99 Jul 12, 2010 4:48 pm

All over the 4,000 bonus points. I appreciate the "side" promo.

Five stays toward FWFN is like kissing your sister. You don't get anything more than you would for three, so why "press" for two more that don't get you anything?
