Where to place some surplus flights?

I met my UA 1K quota this year and have 2 MY flights in business from CAI-HRG. I also might have to/from ORD-KRK later this year also on UA W or higher economy fare.
I have a LH account (has a few thousand - no status miles this year) but am thinking of opening up a BD one to place the extra flights. Should I, or should I just put them on UA? I'm guessing that I would earn 600mi min x2 for business x2 flghts so about 2400...

What would you do?

Loosing orphan miles is a bad thing (waste of a good asset as I've tried to teach my boss)

Bear in mind you only need very few miles for a Y Class reward or C Class with cash and miles, this could be a good idea.

Please check your fare codes before pushing them BD's way. if they're in 50%/25%/0% buckets you might wish to post them elsewhere..

This query is so broad, that I think it is better suited to the Star Alliance forum.

Thread moved.

What do you want those miles to do? Give you flights? Create status? Lifetime Status?

a bit of everything. just so they dont go to waste and if i have some surplus every year i can place them on that account. sooner or later ill have enough for a flight award somewhere. I doubt it I will make any status on any programs, but that would be nice

Having a few miles in multiple accounts is a waste. Having said that if credit to DC these are likely to transfer to M&M anyway. To work out which is better - crediting to DC or directly with M&M check the earning rate based on fare class and route, and also bear in mind DC miles probably will transfer 1:1 to M&M miles, but this is not guaranteed.

I think I would leave them all in UA. The only reason why I would go for another program is because I want lifetime status. And if this is a goal (UA also has this but difficult to get), then I would put them into OZ. Shocking redemption value but good for easy status (valid up to 4 years) and good for lifetime status.
