Connection in ICN from LH to CA

If this is in the wrong thread please feel free to move it somewhere more appropriate.
I will be connecting in ICN from LH to Air China to carry on to TAO.
1) What are international to international connexions like in ICN? Presumably I don't have to go through immigration.
2) Any chance of LH being able to check me through on to CA? Presumably my bags at least? If not where in ICN do I check in as I will presumably be staying airside?
Thanks for any advice.

Can only answer your first question. International to international connections are very simple at ICN. You simply have to show your ongoing BP/ticket and go through a simple security check which usually only takes a few minutes.

I agree. When I connected through ICN it was no big deal. It's a very nice airport, one of the nicest I've been to. The only drawback was that I had to do quite a bit of walking between gates. They do have the moving walkways though, so that helps.

I'm not sure about CA specifically, but there are transfer desks for a number of airlines that allow you to pick-up onward boarding passes on the concourse, without having to clear Korean immigration and customs.

Connecting in ICN

Thanks for your replies - I've used ICN, but it was my final destination. It left a very favourable impression on me (except for the trip into and from Seoul, but I won't be needing that this time!). Clean, modern and efficient. Obviously, I had never tested connexions, but I was hoping that it was the same as the rest of the airport.

ICN is really nice and easy and quick for international connections.
Never tried the LH/Ca combination for checking luggage thru, but LH has been good at this to me in the past - even on seperate reservations and seperate tickets.
Just make sure that you have printouts of the reservation showing the reservation number and also the ticket number and have a printout of the ticket information (if not a paper ticket).
If luggage is not checked thru you need to go thru immigration, pick up the backs, check in, back thru immigration and security. Also not a big deal, because it is typically quick and efficient.
