RTW Routing Question
Back to the Experts,
I was just talking to a colleague in Rochester.
In May, she needs to go from Rochester to Dubai and Shanghai.
Marilyn will be going business class... and we figure a RTW will probably be the way to go.
Any suggestions on routings? She wants to make sure she gets all the miles... but really wants to enjoy the flights.
Thanks in advance.
William

If she sticks to the Northern hemisphere she will only use 20,000 miles or a little more to go RTW. She will pay for a 29,000 mile ticket if she buys J. So the trick is to not return on her international trip to her point of origin (that ends the ticket) but come back to somewhere close, use that as a stopover, and use the ticket within its 12 month time period for other flights in the Americas up to the 29,000 mile limit. You need to watch the limit on transfers but she could get a couple of extra flights 'free' on the same ticket if planned carefully. There must be plenty of choices close to Rochester from which to depart or return in order to keep the ticket open.

I had suggested she stop in Hawaii on the way back from Shanghai... she liked that idea....
Just have to find an appropriate routing....
