Ticket nesting - a basic question
Not sure if this is the place to ask, but here goes. I am planning a trip from the UK to Australia, and, for various reasons, was thinking of doing the following: namely, getting a C class return LHR-SIN on LH, and, separately, buying a Y class return SIN-MEL on SQ.
However, I'm a bit unsure about the rules surrounding nested tickets and the like. In a sane world, the above plan should be ok, but is either airline likely to object?
Any thoughts gratefully received.

So long as the tickets are from different airlines you won't have a problem with the nesting aspect. The only potential issue is if you are making a connection between the two airlines you won't have as much recourse in the event of problems.

Is there any likelihood that I could interline baggage? No big deal if not, but it would be nice.

Bear in mind that you'd be subjected to economy class baggage limits when checking in at MEL though since MEL-SIN on SQ is booked in economy.
