Lounges in LAX - TBIT
I will be flying on SQ19 LAX-SIN on Tuesday. I am a 1P flying Y, what lounges do i have access to, and are open in the evening in the LAX international terminal??
|
As this is not specifically related to UA, and the OP is flying a Star Alliance carrier, I'll move the thread to a more appropriate forum.
P.S. the SQ lounge at TBIT is a disappointment, IMO |
Hi, bosbjg. If you're flying into LAX that day, and have access to Terminal 7, you are entitled to use the Red Carpet Club. I recommend hanging out there if you can get access to the concourse. If you're originating in Los Angeles, you could ask the United agents for a security pass to the concourse, but that kinda negates the purpose of an airside lounge; you still have to get to TBIT and go through security.
In the Tom Bradley terminal, you are entitled to the cramped, meagerly stocked, and bathroom-less Asiana lounge, which is shared by SQ. There is a thread in the SQ Forum devoted to the dismal state of the lounges at TBIT, and SQ's delayed plans to open a refurbished lounge. (Search for "LAX Lounge" in the KrisFlyer forum.) My advice is to stock up on books and magazines at the newsstand, then check out the lounge to satisfy your curiosity and snag whatever potables and snackables are on offer. Although the seats are comfortable, the room is small and stuffy, and can get quite crowded. You probably will not want to linger. Good news on the Singapore side, though: On your way back, you'll have access to the nice SQ lounges in both terminals. |
I second what Lori_Q said. Skip the lounges in the TBIT. THey all uniformly suck. The LAX RCC is passable - at least its spacious - though rundown in comparison to the RCC in SFO.
Getting from T7 (LAX RCC) to TBIT, takes about 20 mins including the wait time for the shuttle that circles the terminals. When you get to TBIT on the shuttle, you need to go up one level to check in for your SQ flight. If you are in the mood to walk, its a nice 15 min walk from T7 to TBIT. |
Agree, of course, the lounges at TBIT are all uniformly awful. The BA/QF lounge itself isn't bad though it gets quite crowded in advance of those LAX-LHR flights. The worst thing about them is that NONE have their own bathrooms. They all share a public restroom down the hall, and it is truly disgusting.

The TBIT lounges are small and nasty. SQ seems to reserve the Silver Kris lounge for F and PPS. Check at SQ's check-in which other lounge they are using for *G.

Any updates on Asiana lounge at TBIT? What do they have in terms of food/drinks?

NZ has its own lounge in T2. It is the nicest lounge at LAX that I have experienced (out of UA RCC & IFL, AA FL, various in TBIT, AC MLL and NZ).
