Thanks - hopefully I won't encounter the same problem as I will be on the late FRA flight. I will report back (could be one of the last FT reports on the TBIT lounges as it seems they are being closed from Labour Day.

By bus? This does not seem to be a very good option. :( Since the lounge will be closed, any thoughts if they will provide passengers with another on-site lounge option or at least some food vouchers?

All lounges in TBIT will be demolished to make way for two new lounges: *A and OW. There will only be one small shared lounge in TBIT in the interim and it is, understandably, open to first class passengers only. :( There isn't another on-site lounge possibility. I don't know about food vouchers, I guess it depends on the airlines.

Ugh! By bus to an off-site lounge. As IAD777 said, it is not a very good option, but there are no other alternatives. You also need to come back to TBIT early to enjoy the TSA service. :(

As far as I remembered what the lounge agent told me, the bus will operate from somewhere after the TSA service. Thus, instead of going up using the elevator, may be it's going down? :)

That implies a secure location somewhere in the airport (as opposed to some rooms in a nearby hotel). Wonder where?

Again, as far as I remember, it would be in one of the hangar, which would be converted to a shared lounge.

Well this is really becoming the next biog mystery on FT :p Who will be the first to post a lounge report of C/J out of TBIT?
For now my next trip is on LH this Sunday so the existing lounges will do for me.

According to a new thread on BA forum, 29 September is the day the current TBIT lounges close.

Nice. Another service reduction. No liquids, no gels, no FlyNet, and now: either endless TSA luggage security lines or a lot of time to kill w/o a lounge after clearing security. Just great. However, ticket prices (taxes) keep going up.

There'll be a temporary lounge (rumoured to be in a hangar with bussed access). However the off-site nature means won't be able to access lounge for short transits or those checking in too close to departure.

Once the new "hangar lounge" opens, it would be great if someone can post a description. While unlikely, it would actually be rather interesting to sip a drink while watching someone inspect a wing or engine in the "hangar lounge"
