Arrow Is this route okay?

Shanghai > Bangkok > Singapore > London > Lisbon > Rome > Frankfurt > New York > Los Angeles > Santa Barbara > San Francisco > Seattle > Vancouver > Seoul > Shanghai

Please help improve this routing. I especially don't like how long the Vancouver-Incheon leg is, and there isn't First on SQ.

I'm open to all suggestions, including adding more places to go.

Thanks in advance!

First of all, this itinerary is very short even for an xRWSTAR1 so you could add a _lot_ of places. In fact, it's short enough for a Star-Lite (a) if the Star-Lite is available ex-China and (2) if you're interested; the Star-Lite is only offered in Y. (You don't actually say what class you're interested in, but your comment about no F on SQ for YVR-ICN is a hint.)

Second, YVR-ICN in J on SQ is not bad at all. The SpaceBed or SkyBed or whatever they call it is quite nice.

Finally, since you're asking for help, it might be good to make it easier for people to help you by putting your proposed itinerary in a form that could easily be pasted into the GCM, for example. That means looking up the airport codes and writing PVG-BKK-SIN ... etc. Also, another handy little convention that some of us here use is to put stops in CAPS and transfers in lower case (PVG-bkk-SIN-LHR-lis-FCO ... etc.) The more information you give us, the more we can help you.

cheers,

Henry

Thanks, Henry.

I know all the airport codes, but when I tried typing them here, they mysteriously converted themselves into lowercase. I try again:

PVG - BKK - SIN - LHR - LIS - FCO - FRA - JFK - LAX - SBA - SFO - SEA - YVR - ICN - PVG

Anyway, I have little experience with Star Alliance airlines since I usually fly Oneworld, so please, add any places that you can into there.

Well, what are you interested in? How much do you want to spend -- in other words, do you want to keep within a 29 000 mile limit, or 34 000 or 39 000? With what you've got so far, you could zig-zag all around North America and still be under 29K. Or, with a little tweaking in Europe and NA, you could fit Australia into a 29K routing. Try the Great Circle Mapper and open up your imagination. When you find something that makes you excited, then you can check to see if *A goes there.

cheers,

Henry

I'm fine with both, actually. How will the routing for the latter be?

But I was under the impression that going to the same place more than once (like SIN here) was not allowed?

You can make transfer 3 times in one city, and one of them can be a stopover. We are talking *A RTW tix right? Or perhaps I am missing something... since I don't know much about this...

Yes it is, thanks.

PS: Do you think you could somehow fit ANA's F into there?

If you want to fit ANA F, you should pick NH's route with the new F seats. It used to be NRT-JFK and NRT-LHR only... but let me check on ANA forum...

Another very funny routing, IMO. It's 36 423 miles on the GCM. If you're paying for 39 000 (especially in F !!!), don't you want to use them?!?

cheers,

Henry

If it isn't possible, SQ F is more than good enough!

It's not that I don't want to use them. I can't leave the office for so long.

I've only got about a month to spend in the existing places, so adding more isn't very wise.

From LAX to SIN, instead of using SQ 11 all the way to SIN, use NH 5 and connect to SQ 11 in NRT. SQ 11 stops in NRT before proceeding to SIN.

My understanding is that the second option from LAX on SQ via TPE does not have F.
