My understanding is that the second option from LAX on SQ via TPE does not have F.
The flight into SIN arrives at 1:30, but the flight to ICN already left at 23:45! What to do?

Think of it as an opportunity - you have a 22 hour transit to see Singapore (or do a mileage run or ...) that doesnt count as a stopover (of course you can reduce this by taking the morning flight instead).

Good point. Still, a number of FTers try to plan there trips to get a long but under 24 hours transit.

Sorry, did not realize you were just transiting thru Singapore.

Some options that come to mind:

(i) SQ 1 from SFO to HKG, Asiana 722 from HKG to ICN - This particular flight on Asiana offers first class. About 6 hours connection time. I believe LAX
was just a transit point in the original itinerary.

(ii) SQ 1 all the way to Singapore and then spend about 12+ hours in Singapore.

(iii) If want to try NH first suite on LAX suite, why not NRT-ICN on UA or
Asiana. From ICN, continue to Singapore and then back to PVG.

Asiana has one flight in the morning with first class. UA will offer better connections but UA first class might not be the best. However given the short flight between NRT-ICN and the excellent first class lounge, UA might
not be a bad option.

(iv) Consider introducing hangzhou in your trip. HGH and PVG are not considered same destination for the purpose of RTW. So you can get really creative. Example:
Go back to HGH from ICN, take a break. Afterall you have 12 months
to complete the trip. At a later time take a side trip from HGH to
anywhere in Asia or Australia/NZ (miles permitting).

Alternatively start your trip from HGH, continue from ICN to PVG and do a side trip later.

PVG - NRT - SIN - BKK - SIN - LHR - FRA - FCO - FRA - JFK - LAX - SBA - SFO - SEA - YVR - LAX - SIN - ICN - PVG

I took out Lisbon. I'm going with Ron777's suggestion of NH5 and connecting to SQ11 (thanks!).

I'm being very careful about stops in SIN - you say anything under 24 hours (like arriving at 18:00 on SQ997 on July 3rd and departing at 13:05 on SQ64 the next day) is fine?

Yes, you are fine for SQ997/SQ64. Afterall, it's less than 24 hours. Thus, it's not considered as stopover.

But, your total mileage is still not maximize. It's only about 35K, with the max RTW3 for 39K. See this map

A bit difficult though to suggest. Well I don't know your objectives. Last time, bjornstrom, or t1nt1n were looking for maximizing PPS sectors. But, since you are saying that you want to be in SQ F as well as NH F with the new seats, hmmm the only think I can think of right now is somehow you have to try the LH FIRST CLASS LOUNGE in FRA so that you can driven out to the jetway in a Porsche or Mercedes.
May be a trip to CAI from FRA?

She's already doing JFK-FRA on LH in F. But there's no F between FRA & CAI.

She's also doing a lot of internal West Coast USA trips on UA ... commuter aircrafts! LAX-SBA?

She could try to maximise with a trip to HKG... say from LAX to SFO to HKG, and then to SIN again.. before ICN and NRT and PVG.

Sorry, I was assuming she is taking JFK-FRA on SQ.
I see F for FRA-CAI Jun 22 on LH.

I think the SIN-HKG-SIN is a good idea as well. Or try the new TG F.

I AM taking SQ, but I'm still considering whether to go with LH or not. If I do take LH, I want to be sure that I can sleep well on the seats, because I remain convinced that SQ beats LH in virtually every department - except the FRA facilities.

By the way, new TG F? How?

I mentioned about TG F because when I read the Trip Reports, many will give TG F lots of praises. I have not been in the new TG F yet, because TG swap the aircrafts everytime I booked my flight.

Regarding SQ vs LH for FRA-JFK, yes I like SQ, but the 8am departure is a disadvantage. LH which flies later, will allow you to enjoy the new FCT. LH744 F is in upper deck with 2-2 configuration. If not a full flight, you will have two seats for yourself. But sleeping wise, I prefer SQ, since LH seats not all the way flat. Again, since FRA-JFK is a daylight flight, do you want to sleep? It's only less tha 8 hours flight.

This is my plan:

FCO – FRA: LH3845 - 15:00 - 17:00
FRA – JFK: SQ26 - 08:20 - 11:00

But I agree, the departure time isn't so desirable. Yes, I think I'll sleep. My other concern is whether LH's service is up to SQ standards.
