Which lounge should you suggest I use at NRT? I haven't heard any exciting reviews of the NH lounge. UA and SQ also have First Class Lounges there. I have never heard anything good about a UA lounge (!) .. and haven't heard anything about this SQ lounge. Which First Class lounge should I use? Or is there another lounge I should use?

ANA (NH) uses a different terminal to SQ and UA so you wont be able to visit the Red Carpet Club or the Silver Kris Lounge.

The ANA lounge is minimal in offerings. I was there from 1700-1830 on 17JAN06. They have 2 portable PCs which they can set up and sign in to if you need their internet access.

No canapes or other real food. Japanese rice cracker packages and 1 kind of cheese with crackers. Juices and liquor are in good supply - at least the 3 Russian guys seemed to think so. Seating with front-row view of the tarmac. TG A340 right outside the window when I was there.

It looks like an airline in trouble that is doing the best that it can. The staff is well-groomed and courteous. Clean, and better than sitting at the gate.

It's located just down the escalator from the duty-free shops that are adjacent to gate D91. UA and AC were loading from D93 with NH staff.

I think thefareguru is referring to the Club ANA lounge downstairs which is available to C class, but the OP is traveling F class so shouldn't need to go downstairs. I have never used the F lounge but I believe it is substantially nicer than the Club ANA or Signet (*G) lounges.

What I always do is :
Take a shower at UA RCC and walk for about 5 min. to SQ. They have good food and nice champaign, and is very cosy.
Although SQ has a limited working hours. Check first at SQ site

One thing I like about the Club ANA (*G) and Signet (*G) lounges is the (one!) massage chair. It's mostly occupied, but a good reason to arrive with plenty of spare time

I'm pretty sure, though, that there will be one in the F lounge as well, though.

NH an airline in trouble? Are you serious? They made money last year. Now UA at - $21 billion for FY2005, that's an airline in trouble. The lounge is indeed basic/bordering on dour, but I would suggest that's more to do with Japanese tastes than any financial imperative...

The NH First class lounge in Narita I have been to is in the satellite. You won't find much food on offer, some onigiri,sembei, and some cheese. It isn't a horrible lounge, it's just not up to par with major First lounges around the world in it's offerings. That said when NH and most of the *A airlines(except NZ) move to NRT 1, look for a much better offering from them (I believe it is in the late spring).

Well, walk is a little bit longer (about 10 min) at least for me, and I walk relatively fast.
The SQ lounge opens at 3:15PM, IIRC. They stay open until the flight to SIN is ready to take off (SQ 11, around 7:00PM). Everything else is as Gru1K describes. Really cosy and quiet. Decent selection of wines (champagne too, sorry I didn't try that) and food.

Yes but only within the same terminal unless you have a ticket or BP for the other terminal. Unlike BKK the 2 terminals are not connected airside (for transfers there is an airside bus).

OTOH the distance between UA gates and SQ makes it feel like it is another terminal.

MON, TUE, & THURS: 8:00 to 9:00 ; 9:30 to 11:30; 15:30 to 18:30
SUN, WED, FRI & SAT: 9:30 to 11:30; 15:30 to 18:30

I dont think so unless its changed in the past couple of weeks. I was there with another FTer on Saturday morning at 8am.

For a slightly better selection of food you need to go to the Signet lounge (if you are *G), not the Club ANA lounge. They have onigiri (rice balls) and oinari (rice stuffed in tofu skin) etc.

I was there yesterday. So, believe me!

PS Sometimes it opens a little bit earlier. Myself I entered at 3:15PM, but officially it opens at 3:30PM
