Luckily :-: offers a multitude of options in Europe.
Very sad to see the splendour of the old BD (from even a decade ago) reduced to what it is now.

What's the deal with all of the mileage earning changes? I don't want to complain, but that used to be the best feature of the Star Alliance. I hated to hearing from the OW airlines that the fare I purchased did not qualify for miles. Now, not much different in that respect on Star Alliance.

Bummer.

Hmm, StarLITE's book in Q or W (from memory) on BD... so this is suggesting that you buy one of these and earn nothing on BD flights? OUCH!

Yup, seem *A is going down the toilet. To add insult to injury:

bmi: Well, may as well fly EasyJet after 1 Aug
SK: Now UA MP get 25% miles on fares below W. To top it off, those fares put you into SK's new enhanced Punishment Class (pay for food AND drinks (i.e water & coffee!)
LH: Now UA MP gets no points on L/T fares.
UA: Now charging for booze long haul. No more free meals in USA (except PS-Service).

Add to that UA/AC/RG/US in bankruptcy.

Enough to make you hop over to OW!

What do you guys expect? After the mass migration of FF to bmi DC and UA M+, they have to cover the gap they had to other *A FFP.

I'm wondering if some aliens from WaterWorld have infiltrated Castle Donnigton and there's a heap of carcasses out in the back. You know, a bit like Invasion of the Body Snatchers? Take over the bodies of the bmi folks, and run airline into the ground.

Just for transatlantic Coach. But which would you rather have - booze or E+? I never bother with airline booze since the wine sucks, they don't serve tequila, and I get dehydrated enough on long flights as it is.

It is too bad about bmi - I only flew them once, but preferred them over all my BA experiences.

It only applies to intra-Europe. See http://www.united.com/page/article/0,,1189,00.html

Add: SQ - no miles on certain fare classes..
Add: TG will be joining with their own restricted fare classes.

Just to clarify, AC is out of bankruptcy, and one good benefit is *G at 35k miles compared to higher thresholds on other programs.
