VS and SAA hook up
From USAToday:
Virgin Atlantic teams up with South African: Begining Oct. 31, Virgin Atlantic and South African Airways (SAA) will enter into a passenger-sharing alliance known as a codeshare agreement. The pact will allow customers to earn and redeem miles on either airline. Virgin Atlantic will also place its flight numbers and sell seats on connecting SAA flights between Johannesburg to destinations in South Africa including Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth, Mpumulanga (Kruger Park) and Pilanesburg (Sun City).

Virgin Atlanta, Virgin Blue, heck even Virgin USA should take over the US Airways routes.

Virgin Atlanta, Virgin Blue, heck even Virgin USA should take over the US Airways routes.I couldn't agree more. It would be great if Virgin joined *A. But I doubt it will happen, since Virgin competes directly with United on routes to London and the competition will only increase as Virgin USA starts to operate out of SFO.
On a related note, I assume that after SAA joins *A its code-shares on Virgin metal won't count for UA (or other Star partners) mileage accrual or redemption.
Would love to hear I'm wrong on either count.
