SA to Cairns?

Does anybody know if there is a possibility to go to Cairns on an award ticket?
If yes with which airline?

The only SA partner now offering service to Cairns is Air New Zealand.

go to the StarAlliance website http://www.star-alliance.com/cgi-bin/sa.storefront/ and download their STarAlliance-Flights timetable (Adobe Format).

Then, open the timetable (Adobe) and on the left all airports served by any StarAlliance carrier are listed. Click on Cairns at it shows all flights (and carriers) serving Cairns.

Yes it is Air NewZealnd only now.

Air NZ flys to Cairns using Ansett code share. Ansett has gone bust a few days ago.

is (or was) NZ 109 from Auckland to Cairns really a code-share flight (with AN being the carrier)?

My timetables say otherwise.

NZ109 is NZ metal with NZ crew and is still flying. Does not fly everyday though.

my Lauda flights Vienna-Kuala Lumpur-Melbourne or Sydney both ways never stop(ped) in Cairns.

Lauda is a daughter company of the Austrian Airline Group (other members: Austrian Airlines and Tyrolian) and linked to LH's miles&more Frequent Flier program

I think NG (Lauda) serving CNS is a bit of a fantasy. It never has and likely never will.

SQ used to serve CNS, but dropped it in favour of AN codeshares - they may well restart some kind of service themselves to protect that market (or maybe not)

It would be great if SQ would start service to Cairns again. In April 2000 the flight from CNS was full and the equipment was switched from an A 310 to an A 340.
I visited the homepage of Cairns airport and there is a Lauda Codeshare flight from Kuala Lumpur which is operated by Malaysian!
