Lounges at NRT

It seems that there is an ANA lounge in one terminal at NRT and a United lounge in the other. Are there any other *A lounges at NRT, and which is the best?

Thanks, Rudi.

It seems from that database that ANA's lounge at NRT doesn't allow Star Gold access, so we'll have to catch the bus over to the other terminal for SQ and UA lounges. What a pain!

What about the "new" ANA Signet lounges??? The AN stuff I saw seemed to indicate it was *G friendly

The database wasn't to be specific on *G access...but I would say you could get in for sure.

ANA (NH) has its lounges at Terminal 2 of NRT. If my memory serves right (I was there just a few days ago), there are three signet lounges in the main terminal section of T2 and there is another at the satellite section where you get there by a short train ride.

At the main terminal section, two are on the same floor as the passport control. One of these two, nearest to the passport control counters, doubles as Fuji Lounge and it did not have any Star Gold sign.

The third one is upstairs. (To take the train, you go downstairs.)

ANA allows a Star Gold member to check in at their F counter. I think they will issue you an invitation to whichever lounge they want you to go to. They seem to want to control the traffic in each lounge.

I visited two of the three signet in the main terminal section. The Fuji lounge was quieter but a bit smaller. The other on the same floor has two sections -- to the left and to the right. I was on an economy award ticket and flashed my NH*G card and they asked me to go to the right, where LH customers were also invited.

But at NRT, by all means, the UA lounge (at Terminal 1) is the best. Terminal 1 also has an SQ lounge. I had an SQ flight last week but did not bother going to their proprietary lounge. I went to the UA lounge. (They somehow asked me to show any UA card I had, though, which should not have been necessary.)

Thanks for the info, Chiangi.

All looks like good stuff to put into Dorian's database, too.

Non-NH Star Gold are still not allowed to access Lounge Fuji or signet in NRT. This leaves other Star Golds with the Club ANA lounges in T2 which leaves a lot to be desired, considering NRT is NH's home airport.

In T1, SQ lounge has better food, UA lounge has a very nice shower. Oh, SQ lounge also has very nice work carrels.

stargold, I know you fly frequently via NRT (this, btw, is the reason that I thought I have nothing to contribute to Dorian's chart, Kremmen. I think he covered them all well. ) but I think NH allows Star Gold to use at least one of the fine signet lounges at T2. I would assume two of them are open to Star Gold. Or were you turned down by NH to use it/them?

The one signet that doubles as Fuji did not have any Star Gold sign when I visited there last time in Feb and Mar.

NH even let me use one of their lounges last year when I flew CO. This was a bit funny story. CO is handled by NH at T2. I was flying buz but I showed my NH Platinum card and asked if I could use Fuji. They said yes .... I thik that is not the rule, though.

I'm flying TG soon and I will use either my LH or UA card then and see what NH would say. (TG also has a strange arrangement with NH and JL at T2, btw.)

It will be interesting to see what happens. I'll be travelling on NH with a friend who's in a wheelchair. We are both *G. If NH don't let us use their lounge in T2, how wheelchair-friendly is the shuttle to T1?

Kremmen, I strongly advise against going to T1 just for the sake of lounge access, esp. if your friend is on a wheelchair.

If the carrier you are flying can arrange something special for transfers, it would be no problem but airside inter-terminal buses at NRT are far and few (only one every hour in some afternoon hours).

You need to clear security and go downstairs (or go downstairs to clear security -- I forgot the routine) and I don't think the bus is designed to handle wheelchair passengers.

NRT is very wheelchair unfriendly -- up and down, up and down to get in and get out. (I really think Changi in Singapore is really a nice airport in this sense, too. Very flat.)

I've just used TG from NRT to LAX. At NRT Terminal 2, lounges assigned to TG pax were JAL's one.
Since JAL's lounge I went was a little crowded I moved over to NH's Club ANA lounge. At there I was told that JAL's lounges are assigned to TG pax, which means, there are some pax support such as announcement of start of boarding etc in the assigned lounges. It was ok to use NH's, but they told me they can't do announcement for TG flights.
It was quite fine for me and I enjoyed Club ANA lounge.

We've got over 7 hours there, so we can afford to muck about and have an adventure.
(NH's schedules suck - only one flight per day from Osaka to NRT, and it's very early, but who wants to spend half the day getting from ITM to NRT?)

As for Changi, yes, it's pretty good for disabled access. The worst part is that almost no staff know where any of the disabled toilets are and they are not marked on any maps in the airport!

Kremmen, you might need a ticket for airside bus transfer to T1. Maybe you can ask an NH staff to give you one. I got one, though unsolicited, when I told them about my possibility of getting a flight at the last minute from T1.

One or two TG flights out of T2 is/are codeshared by NH. For this, I am sure NH offers a boarding announcement at their lounges. I had a funny experience with this, taking a TG flight as a NH codeshare. JL turned me down because the ticket had an NH designator. NH could not handle the check-in without going through a thick manual. NH just started code shareing in January. Not many of the staff were familiar with those TG flights. NH told me that JL was not supposed to turn me down under their contract ... etc. etc. quite cumbersome.
