Upgrades on *A Partners
I have looked at the Thai web site and the Star Alliance web site and could not answer this probably simple question.
May I use Mileage Plus miles to upgrade a Thai flight from LAX to BKK? Can you point me to some web site that will tell me what class I must book economy in to upgrade to business? Thanks.

The only Star Alliance partners that I know allow upgrades on each other's flights are LH and UA (and there are rules and restrictions that you should know about).
I doubt that there is a way to upgrade a TG flight with another Star carrier's points or I am sure we would have heard about it by now.

in late 1998 there was a one time promotion for top-tier frequent fliers of all Star-carriers (6 carriers at that time only) giving them 'good at check-in-only' one-class/any-fare-upgrades good on any other Starcarrier (except the own one), they were very time limited (2 months?).
Flying TG it never hurts to ask how much a one-way-upgrade costs in $ (from ZRH to BKK TG offered during the whole last year, a one-way/one-class-confirmable upgrade good on any paid fare for only US$ 99!), that upgrade could only be purchased at TG's-downtown office in Zrich in person.
