Does Kendell flight count toward status in the other *A programs ?!
Hi people,...
I'm booking a trip ADL-HBA (via MEL) with Ansett and plan to put the ff points in my VARIG account. Well,.. the leg MEL-HBA now is being flown by KENDELL with a CRJ. KENDELL is the Ansett regional carrier. Normally,.. would Kendell flights count towards status with the other *A programs or even,... would it give any miles at all ?!
On a related question , a friend that is fflyer with Thai is going on a trip to Brazil and will fly Rio-Sul (VARIG regional airline) ... normally, would he get points in and status in his TG account with those flights ?!
Thanks much

MMM,
Make absoluetely sure that they put in the AN flight number on the BP rather than KD. I think it is only flights to ABX and Wagga (where KD originated from that KD flight numbers may still be used anyway).
When they use AN numbers I have had no problems (with NZ anyway), but sometimes the KD numbers are spat straight out but a friendly call usually sets it right.
So you should be fine.

MMM,
I have doubts as to whether you will get miles on the Kendell flights unless you are trying to accure the miles onto an AN account.
I'm under the impression that you will get miles on other Star programs if the flight is ticketed with a *A flight number AND operated by a *A carrier. In other words, flying BNE-AKL on an AN flight number with the flight operated by NZ will earn miles with other Star programs while flights operated by non-Star carriers would not.

Thanks people.
But that is the point Seawolf... are the regional carriers of the *A carriers also members of *A ?! They are for the RTW trips ,.. but are they for mutual mileage accural (sp ?!) ??
In Varig's case it's got 2 regional carriers: Rio-Sul (Brazil south-central) and Nordeste (Brazil northeast) . Say if someone from LH program flies them ,.. does he/she get miles ?!
Nowadays ,.. there is no AN flights from MEL to Tasmania,.. everything's gone to KD ! If I can't get miles on that (it's one of my main routes.. ..) ,.. I'm gonna cry !!

MMM,
I've flown on Kendell and the flights were coded AN 5XXX. I did receive the full milage to my SAS Eurobonus account. And as Ansett is a member of Star, the miles were status miles too. Kendell is by the way 100% owned by Ansett.
So, as long as the flight is an AN coded flight, then you should get the miles.

The Air Canada guide indicates that Rio-Sul and Nordeste flights count for Aeroplan, as do all United Express (but a warning on that--only certain UAx carriers are allowed on *A RTW fares). No such notation for KD.

I have never had any problems with KD either to NZ or to UA accounts.
I view it as similar to when flying around NZ you are actually flying on Mt Cook Airlines and Air Nelseon (read the side of the plane) which are a wholey owned subsiderary airlines of NZ, as KD is of AN. Bu are only really kept as links to the past when the smaller airlines were bought out.
