US-booked TK Flight (name error)

Booked the tickets for my parents using US airways miles a couple of months agao. Outbound: WUH-CAN(CA), CAN-IST-ATH(TK), inbound: FCO-PEK-WUH(CA)

I first called an US airways agent to hold an itineary and got the PNRs (3 different PNRs for US, CA and TK) before issuing the tickets.I then checked US website and found that my mother's last name has one letter spelling error. Called US airways again half an hour later and asked them to correct it and issued the tickets.

After the tickets were issued, I called both operating airlines,CA and TK and was told by TK agents (their website also showed the same)that my mother's last name on their system is the one with error. I then called US airways and explain the situation (US reservation info is correct, but TK agents see the wrong last name). They updated the security data and said it should be fine now.

As my parents will check in with CA at WUH airport for all three segments (WUH-CAN-IST-ATH) and CA has the correct info, I did not worry about much. However, several days ago, CA changed the schedule of the WUH-CAN flight, which makes the connection impossible. Called US and they managed to put my parents in an CA flight (WUH-CAN) one day earlier without changing all other segments. In this way, they have to check in with TK at CAN airport the second day.The US issued new tickets numbers without changing any of the US,CA and TK PNRs. However, what TK has in its system still contains that spelling error of my mother's last name.

Called US airways again and they said the tickets issued under the
right names. They do not know why TK has the error. They updated the security data with my mother's birthday, but can not do anything more. Then I called TK(they did not receive any new notice from US) and was told US has the right to do any change.

Does anyone has similar experience? any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks!

This happened to me last December. It took them two ticket reissues and a name change to correct my mom's name.

After the two reissues, I ended up calling USAirs international line (for getting someone who spoke Spanish). She was able to make the change from USAirways side without once again reissuing the tickets.

In my case, I called USAirways customer service for Mexico. I usually call the regular CP number but after reissuing the ticket without correcting the mistake twice, I called the number from the originating country; they understood the problem perfectly and told me there even wasn't a need to reissue the ticket.

The big question in your case is if they'll be able to make changes to the ticket now that US is no longer * A.

Cross-Posting
Don't post your topic more than once. Duplicate threads or posts will be deleted, combined or locked. You may cross reference a post in another forum. For example, if you are questioning whether American Airlines or United Airlines may be the best fit for you, post the primary question in perhaps the American forum and then post a link to that thread in the United forum.
