Advice on fare code mapping

I'm hoping that some more experienced FT folk can point me in the right direction or otherwise advise me. I have tried searching both FT as well as individual FFP websites and if the answer to my question is there I can't find it.

My dilemma is that I am an AC E50K / *A G transferring this year to United Mileage Plus. My wife is staying AC.

We are planning a trip in September where we will be ticketing through UA and I will be crediting to MP while she credits to AP. I know that we have to be careful regarding mileage credits for different fare classes with each carrier. I can find out what a particular class on 1 airline will credit each plan. What I cannot figure out is what a fare class purchased through UA, on a third *A carrier's metal will credit to AC/AP.

Specifically is there any way to find what % mileage she can expect from a United S or T fare on Austrian Arrows/ Tyrolean Air metal ( which I understand is Austrian Airlines). I can find out what a United S or T fare will give on AP but how do I find out what the actual Austrian code would be for this United S or T fare. If I had a way to find that I can check on AP's site. It seems that a specific code class on one carrier isn't always the same class as the same letter code with another.

Any advice / guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Someone else will surely have a more accurate answer, but I have never not received 100% Aeroplan status miles for trips on United, regardless of fare type.

Here is *A booking class alignment, but for your question, best answer should be coming from relevant FFP... United should tell you clearly what you earn on partners in various classes - at leas M&M and SilverKris do so...

Hi. Thanks.
I guess I didn't make it 100% clear. I know what United will award for the fares on Austrian. I also know what AC will award for flights on United. What I can't figure out is what AC/AP will award for flights on Austrian purchased through UA. The reason seems to be that United awards its fare class, which may not, I am led to believe match Austrian's fare class and it is the Austrian class that AC/AP will use to calculate points. That fare class wouldn't be on my ticket United's would.

It is my understanding that many AC/AP members have been burned by this, believing they would get 100% points for example only to earn 25%. Maybe I'm being paranoid but I've been warned to be extra careful in making these types of bookings.

So the issue here is the codeshare, eg, UA5000 operated by OS6000. The united booking is in class S, however the milage credit will be based on the OS flight class <?>.

The issue being that it is unclear which OS class will be used. It could very well be S, however it may also be something totally different.

As far as I know there is no reliable way to figure this out. It is one of the main downsides of how *A works. I believe there is a (user-maintained) website that contains some mappings, based in previous experiences. However that/those sites may not be up to date, and the result will definitely not be guaranteed.

Best thing to do is to call UA. They should be able to tell you what their S class maps into for OS flights.

Thanks. I wasn't sure if there was a way to figure it out and calling UA seems the best bet.

All responses were greatly appreciated.

I disagree. UA likely has no idea what it maps to. Call OS and ask them what they see in your reservation.

Thanks. I haven't bought the tickets yet , partly because I'm still trying to figure this out. If I call OS I suspect they won't know until UA bills it. I suspect the legs in question will earn zero points with either UA or AC because when I look at the flights directly with OS and select a fare that credits some miles the price for the intra European leg is almost as expensive as the multicity through UA including the TATL the connecting flight from Canada as well as the intra European legs. TBH the savings are such that even without points it will be a deal.

They probably book straight across OS-UA. sbm12 is correct though, the only way to be sure is to contact OS after booking. UA will have no idea.

For TATL, S accrues at 100% on AP and T accrues at 50%. For intra-Europe, S accrues at 25% and T accrues at 0. AP Accrual Chart.

Note that OS S and T accrue at zero on UA.

Yeah, but you get 24 hours to refund so that should help.

LH.com nowadays shows the mapping, it should work for OS too. More here:
