Will star gold kick in immediately upon flying? FRA lounge access
Hi guys,
This is my first year of serious flying and I will hit gold this month finally, on a flight LAX-FRA (economy). I have a couple hours layover in FRA before heading to BAH. My question is, will I be able to access any *A lounges in FRA with my hot-off-the press *gold? My guess is no, or, depending on my negotiation skills.
Anyone have experience here?

You can always call up UA and ask nicely if they can advance gold status since you will pass on the next flight anyway. I haven't tried this, but there have been reports on FT of people getting the right agent. You never know if you don't ask

UA miles usually don't post for at least 24 hours, more like 48.
Then it can take several days for the upgraded status to make its way to other carriers.
So, no lounge access.

I would be shocked if any CSR would do that now.
