Req help on planning a trip of a lifetime.

Hey all,

My wife and I are planning a trip to Bali. We are planning on flying out of JFK,EWR or possibly IAD. As of now we are want to leave mid-week of July 2013. I know I can't book until 330 days out. I am trying to get all my ducks lined up if you will before hand.

We would like to fly F on SQ but know that is going to be highly unlikely. What is the chance of redeeming B on SQ.

Can anyone tell me what my chances of getting a 2 F seats of LH from JFK - FRA - SIN (with a 4 day layover ) and finally to DPS.

I would LOVE to try to A380 Business if F is unlikely an any other equipment.

Also can anyone suggest any other good F or B class routing through SIN that we can redeem miles on?

I appreciate the help.

Redeeming 2 seats with non-M&M FF programs on LH all the from NYC to SIN is highly unlikely. Seats in F are hard to come by even for M&M folks, even more so on A380.
I don't have experience on SQ, but you may want to think about using TG connecting from IAD/PHL/EWR via FRA/MUC/ZRH?

Honestly, don't even think about SQ F on the A380 because it's not even available on paid *A RTW trips.

You might get lucky with space opening on SQ C A380 from JFK-FRA but it will tough to get. I recommend getting EF (ExpertFlyer) and putting in an alert since it's definitely worth the money in doing so.

What I recommend is this:
1. EWR/JFK-ZRH-BKK-DPS on LX C/F - LX C/F - TG C
2. EWR/JFK-FRA-BKK/SIN-DPS on LH F - LH F/TG F - SQ C*
3. JFK-DOH-BKK-DPS on QR C - QR C - TG C (I'm assuming you're using US miles which means this isn't possible)

*You won't get access to the FCT in FRA if you take the TG F segment from FRA to BKK because it isn't on LH, LX, or OS.

I also recommend flying out of JFK instead of EWR if you're flying LX of LH F due to the better lounges especially the LH one.

It looks like you are redeeming US Airways miles (DM). Since you have some time and are willing to do some planning, find a comfortable chair and spend a few hours (days) with this thread:

Star Alliance Award Bookings Using US Airways Miles - FAQ and Help Thread [MERGED]

Read the first post then spend some time reading the last 3 months worth. Lots of discussion on what is and is not available with DM. AFTER you have armed yourself with some knowledge you can post your question to the thread. They are very helpful on that thread, but more so to those that help themselves first. ExpertFlyer will not be that useful since it doesn't search US Airway awards. *AwardTraveler and the infamous ANA Tool (see the thread) will be better tools and are free.

Finally - as you will find in the referenced thread, LH/LX in F is unavailable transatlantic but some C. SQ never has been available in F but some reports of C awards across the ocean. TG has good availability in F & C to BKK from various Europe gateways.

Good luck. DM awards are not what they used to be but with reasonable expectations, a LOT of research and patience, you will have a nice ride to Bali.

Thanks for your suggestion. I will certainly do that. This is why I am planning so for ahead.
