*A First Class lounges
What is it about these places that makes them feel so unpleasant?
I've been to the ones at LHR, CDG and LAX and they're all indentically grim.
What were *A thinking of? Or were these group lounges designed by UA?

I think at LHR, you can blame BA for the locations. So like the rest of he BMI board, who will all be blaming (or slightly miffed) at BA soon .....

I've tried the F-lounges in FRA (LH), ICN (OZ), NRT (NH), NRT (UA), ZRH (LX). Apart from the UA lounge in NRT they were all brilliant.

I believe he's talking about the Star Alliance-branded lounges which have no particular carrier's branding but instead used by all the Star airlines in a given airport/terminal.
In which case, yes, they are all pretty forgettable. For C lounges, they're not noticeably inferior, but given what the airlines offer in their own-branded F lounges, the Star F ones do seem very, very dull.

It seems you've encountered some bad ones. My experience is that all F-lounges I've been in has been better than the best C/*G-lounge (which do vary a lot).

Sorry the LX F lounge in ZRH is only for LH group F passengers and their HON members, the designated F *alliance lounge in ZRH is the LX Senator lounge. The same applies to the F terminal in FRA.
