Question: conversion of Emirates miles to *A

Hi, I am United FF and will be flying EK JNB- DME-JNB in C. Sometime ago there was a way to earn United miles when flying EK, but this cooperation was scrapped after the merger with Continental. You can still earn SAA miles if you fly EK, but is there a way to transfer the SAA miles into United?

A good option could be to useAlaska Airlines Mileage Plan, as you can redeem with a number of partners.
Seems pretty good for those odd flights in other global carriers.

Those Emirates flights would even be elite qualifying.
