I imagine it would, although I guess technically they've stopped flying but not yet formally ceased to exist. I understand there used to be a LH lounge at BCN; guess they will have to recreate it. Will be in BCN next so I'll investigate.

I'd rather spend 2.5 hours working productively than spending the same amount of time going through security, spending time in the lounge, then on board, etc. IMO. The train is a lot less stressful. I sit down, and I start working.

TAP should take this great opportunity and set up a base in Barcelona, taking over some of the now-dead Spanair's operations, keeping Star Alliance ever present on the Iberian peninsula. TAP should set up a Barcelona-based daughter low-cost carrier and call it.... get ready for this... TAPA.

This is probably not the right forum for this. But I think that you are both right: asterion about one of the causes of the crisis, and GuyverII about who the general public blames (without properly analysing the situation).

Anyway, I feel sorry for the people at Spanair (even if they were generally some of the worst airline personal I have ever met during my travels :rolleyes:), but I will not miss the airline. But I am a bit worried about the future of *A in BCN.

I am going for A3. Hoping they will survive the financial crisis.

I also read this in another thread but the couple of times I have been in F they did not address me to this lounge.
The decoration/quality of the furniture is slightly better but the drinks and food offerings are the same, so not a big improvement.

1. I agree that is not the right forum to discuss this but the bubble was caused by the irrationality of the people thinking that the price of the houses could grow forever.
Of course banks, politicians,...fueled this but it had no sense that property prices in small towns, in the middle of nowhere, were higher than in Berlin.

2. +1 on Spanair but I actually miss more the end of LH Italia. The flights to MXP were very convenient and the fares fantastic.

+1. And let's put an end to discussing politics here, as it really has nothing to do with the demise of an airline that had been doomed for years, and the Barajas accident plus the current crisis only precipitated the fall.

Vueling and Ryanair are now trying to make the most of the situation, but I think it's the former that will pull it off. It has the most routes in common, including the BCN-MAD shuttle, it's the "unofficial" airline of BCN and the one that should have more support from the government... but nothing like what Spanair got, of course.
