*A Carriers with Fuel Surcharges on award tickets?

Hi Guys,

Is their an existing thread or site that lists the *A carriers that charge a fuel surcharge on award tickets?

I will be booking a US -> Asia F award ticket using CO/UA miles. I am trying to discern if I can avoid hefty fuel surcharges.

I did some searching here and on google but didn't come up with anything.

Thanks!

Foo

After doing a bit more searching (took me a while to find this!) I found this post at boarding area:

http://boardingarea.com/blogs/tmtrav...re-redemption/

Says that UA, CO, and US do not charge a fuel surchage no matter what airline we redeem on. Dated Jan 14, 2011.

Can someone confirm this?

Thanks again,

Foo

LOL it seems I may have answered my own question--but I hope this helps someone else too:

Here is another link from Smarter Travel Feb 2011:

Specifically says that North American carriers do not assess fuel surcharges and it is decided by the airline who holds the miles, not the airline that you are redeeming on.

If this is true this is good news for me because I was worried I was going to have to shell out a load of $ to get from US to Europe on my way to BKK.

Again, any affirmations/corrections from you great folks at FT are most welcome

I am still getting my feet wet with *A!

I've redeemed miles on both UA and DL this year for transpac flights without having to pay YQ charges.

Let's hope that it stays that way.

Not true, AC charges very hefty fuel surcharges on its reward flights.

Ah yes. I guess that article and my thinking was a little US-centric.

Good to know so I will stay away form AC's mileage program

I am getting ready to book my flights now so I suppose my "moment of truth" of sorts will be soon.
