Spanair carryon rules
Taking a one way from BCN to VCE next month after getting off a cruise. Booked a traveler class (coach?) seat for a cheap fare which included one checked bag and one carry on. Question is, in the US you are allowed one carryon and one personal item which for me includes a small backpack and a 14x9x22 carryon, is the personal item (backpack) allowed on EU carriers? Thanks

I don't know how lenient they are these days. We haven't flown them in years. Spanair's web site has their baggage policy at http://www.spanair.com/web/en-gb/Luggage/. It indicates you get one bag only. Your 14x9x22 bag also exceeds their maximum dimensions of approximately 16x10x20.

Thanks for the response. I saw that on their website earlier, thanks for posting it though. I'll try giving them a call, they presumably have english speaking agents?

You should be fine with the slightly larger bag (they didn't size them last time I flew with them, however, it was a while ago, so someone else should confirm). A personal item should be ok, though a small backpack seems a bit big. Maybe a laptop case/purse/camera case.
