I don't know how lenient they are these days. We haven't flown them in years. Spanair's web site has their baggage policy at
http://www.spanair.com/web/en-gb/Luggage/. It indicates you get one bag only. Your 14x9x22 bag also exceeds their maximum dimensions of approximately 16x10x20.
