Pilferage
I don't know if this is the best place to post my pilferage experience, but I was on a SA itinerary.
Last week we flew LIH-SFO-EWR-SNN; first 2 legs on UA, last on CO.
When we got home we found someone had opened a checked bag, taken our digital SLR from its bag, and put the camera bag back into the suitcase.
The CO luggage agent at SNN said they would send me a pilferage form to fill in, but it isn't here yet.
What sort of chance do we have for a claim?
BTW, the luggage was off very quickly at SNN. I am guessing it happened at SFO as there was a 12 hour layover.

Your chance of getting any compensation is nearly nil. There is a reason the airlines warn you not to check valuables. They disclaim responsibility for such.

Next time you fly with valuables, be sure to put it in the same bag where you have a firearm that is properly declared and checked. Even a starter's pistol is enough to get you this special bag handling.
