Southwest No Longer Sold on Travelocity
It's unlikely that anyone here buys their Southwest tickets through Travelocity, but I thought this was noteworthy as you may notice that Southwest's fares are no longer displayed if you use Travelocity.

It's a good thing for Southwest that their web site is fast and easy to use. When I, an experienced fare searcher , look at fares, I have to remind myself to visit swa.com (not that I would actually fly them; just to see the fare).
Can you imagine how many passengers AA would lose if they insisted everyone book on aa.com? They would end up selling only mileage runs!

The Dallas low-fare carrier said the bare-bones distribution agreement for online bookings that it has with Travelocity's parent, Sabre Holdings Corp., didn't pull from to Southwest's live inventory of seats. As a result, passengers who booked on already full Southwest flights through Travelocity sometimes logged off thinking they had confirmed reservations when they didn't.
"It became an issue ... enough to get on the radar screen at both companies," said Southwest spokeswoman Beth Harbin.

According to reports, Southwest was unwilling to invest in the software infrastructure required to seamlessly link to Travelocity's reservations system. So, for now at least, Southwest's only online sales will now be through its own website
