I drove by Soutwest at LAX on October 9th at 5:30am and the lines were long but they were much worse at American.

Terminal 1 looks worse than the other because there is little space for the security queue inside the building so there is often a line outside. Others are just as bad or worse but they are inside and not visible from the roadway.
