Standby Questions

New to Southwest...is it possible to standby for an earlier flight via a check-in kiosk, or do I have to see an agent (ticket or gate)? I am on a full-fare ticket. Thanks. And once I am on standby, am I still protected on my original flight?

Yes. You'll need to speak with an agent.

If the earlier flight is not sold out, the gate agent will give you a BP immediately. Going to the GA earlier might therefore get you a "B" rather than a "C". It worked for me this week.

Thanks! Sounds pretty painless.

It is painless, especially because you have a full-fare ticket. If you needed to standby on a discounted ticket, you would need to pay the difference to full-fare in most cases. Just an FYI for future standby planning...

Was able to get a boarding pass for the earlier flight, without issue. Really enjoyed my first experiences on WN.
