Ding software setup problems
I installed Ding on my laptop and can't get a connection to SWA.
I use either hard wire or wireless connect through a Linksys router.
My desktop works just fine.
Firewall settings allow DING.
Seems I have to create proxy setting and port to configure DING to get internet access. I have no idea how to do this or what proxy setting and port I need to input.
I called SWA and they had no clue except to call my computer maker.
I have no other internet access issues with my laptop.
Seems to me they should have created a program that figured that out for you.
Any ideas out there?
thanks,
Rokdigger

First of all, Welcome to FT!
My personal experience (and that of many others, based on threads here) is operator error is frequently the problem. As noted in a recent thread:
"It sounds like you may not have completed the registration process.
This seems to be a common problem. In the Ding window you select your 10 airports, then you need to scroll down and enter a Rapid Reward number if you choose to, then scroll down some more and click on the submit button.
Many people have been selecting the airports and then clicking "update registration" at the top of the Ding window, instead of scrolling down and submitting."
Make sure that you are scrolling all the way down.
Hope that helps!

When I open DING, I can use every link on the page except "update registration". "Unable to connect to SW. If I click on any of the 8 links, I go to SW. So I know I have a connection.
When I downloaded DING there was no registration page. You register and select your airports going through the update registration.
Any more thoughts?

Actually there is a registration page, it just occurs in the ding application rather than registering before you download.
Update Registration would indicate that you already had a registration which you were updating. Updating is changing your airport selection.
Once you have downloaded and installed, the first thing that appears in the ding window is the registration process. You choose up to 10 airports, enter a Rapid Rewards number (if you choose), and then click "register".
You cannot receive messages, or update your registration, until this initial registration process is complete.
Until you have registered, this should continue to show up in your ding window. If not, try closing ding (right click EXIT) and then re-opening it from the Start menu. As soon as it opens you should see the registration process in the ding application itself. Scroll down in the ding application window to complete the process.
