Rumor: Southwest announced DFW at end of April

Rumor, rumors!!!

Southwest will announce Dallas/Ft. Worth (DFW) sometime at end of April.

Here is the link:

https://viewfromthewing.com/whole-new-era-southwest-airlines-expected-to-announce-dfw-service-next-month-up-to-23-flights/

I think they have plenty of room for another airlines. It will operate at terminal E, but not at satellite E.

Let the speculation begin!

I expect it to be similar to ORD and IAH service. Limited to thr hub airports of Denver, bna, and maybe bwi.

Dulles is limited to just denver and I think to phx or las. They dropped ATL and MDW. Others might be seasonal or special event like the weekend Washington plays cowboys.

I expect international non-stops. CUN at a bare minimum.

Southwest COO Andrew Watterson said flying out of DFW would allow for international operations which Love Field does not but the bulk of services would be domestic.
SWA starting next year is allowed to expand to any airport in North Texas without giving up gates at Love Field.

Because Cancun is a popular destination but nonstop scheduled service to international destinations is prohibited from Love Field.

Im skeptical on the demand since all it amounts to is DFW local travelers with no feeders.

what might occur are connecting flights from denver or St. Louis that are stopover routes to Cancun.

By definition, stopover routes from DEN or STL to Cancun are feeders.

I think he would object to being called voluminous.

That's a lot of airplanes for Southwest to pull out of its closet. I hope those planes don't come from the already threadbare intra-Calfornia schedule.

Wish they would do Cozumel, so I could stop flying through Hobby. Hobby isnt bad, but lack of any clubs makes a 3-4 hour layover seem extra long.

I thought its cutting service due to delivery issues with Boeing cutting 4 cities including Syracuse. It should not be operating out of multi airports like DFW and ORD. Those airports are already well served very busy and congested at times.

Boeing has a problem with the MAX. They havent delivered it yet. I think FAA is reviewing it now. Still waiting for the results from FAA approved. Probably wont see it till next month or so. If they fix it. They will delivery it.

Southwest was forced to leave UAL hubs EWR, IAH, and ORD since it could not make money. Curios how long WN can survive against AA at its global hub DFW.
