Mine finally posted today as well 8 days late. If this exact scenario plays out in December, anyone with a credit card closing date of 12/23 or later will get screwed and their Nov 24 to Dec 23 charges will show up for 2024.
Actually it could be even a closing date of 12/22 or 2/21 since the Christmas holiday probably needs to be considered.
I wonder if SWAVictor can weigh in regarding whether this event was highly unusual and extremely unlikely to happen again OR should we plan for this kind of event in the future?

Seems that I remember they post the real dates, even if posted a few days late.
Maybe?
Personally, I only want my points to post in January so I can get a 23-24 months companion pass.

Hello -
The situation that caused this delay is highly unusual, but can happen from time to time. In your example of December postings, there charges might show up in January, but they are backdated to 2023 qualifications and would not count towards 2024 if they post in January. This is because the posting from Chase comes in with the 2023 date based on your closing date.
Hope that helps!

1) back dating won't solve the problem for late Dec/early Jan. SW specifically says the points count WHEN POSTED, not when earned
2) Shortly after Jan. 1 SW tallies up the full year points, locks in the numbers, and starts the new year. If your points haven't posted by then, you are out of luck.
I think seeing the points back dated recently is giving some people a false sense of security. If this happens in late Dec./early Jan. then this back dating will not save people because of the hard cutoff at year end.

Looks like the posting is back to normal. I called last week to my statement closing date up a week so points would be posted for my companion pass before a flight this weekend. I changed my statement ending date to Oct 1 and the points were posted today Oct 2.

Nothing
Edit: I did get the 1,500 on 11/19 which I get every month for hitting a spend requirement. That seems to post on time. But my regular monthly spend points recently post a week+ late, and then it's backdated to the 19th.

re-read your post: I haven't seen just the Date as a line item description in the activity. Maybe send an email to Customer Service to ask?

Since this has been going on for a few months it would be nice if a SWA rep who frequents this board could get to the bottom of this issue and fix it. Hint: SW will blame Chase while Chase will blame SW (as pretty much always happens).
