I frequently get a payment error when trying to book a ticket on Southwest. This never happens with other airlines (not even BA which can be tricky). I enter the billing details exactly as they are on my card and statement. It even happens sometimes when I choose a card that I've previously used and saved to my SW account. There is not a rhyme or reason that I can figure out, but it's not uncommon for me to have to enter payment details 3 or 4 times (I'll enter the card I want to use, it'll get kicked back, I'll enter it again thinking I made an error. Then I'll try a different card. Then finally a 3rd card will work).
What's going on? I can't be the only one.

I thought about that but really think I'm checking everything. And today when it happened I tried to book the ticket on my app, and still got the error. The credit card I was trying to use does not get denied anywhere else!

Are you typing in the credit card information or is it being automatically filled in? Assume you and the card are both from (and located in) the US and this is a normal credit card? Do you see the pending transaction on your credit card issuer's site after it has been denied or does it just not exist? Assume your credit card issuer hasn't seen anything wrong on their side?

I went into my profile and deleted several old/canceled credit cards that were sitting there - I don't think I was accidentally choosing one of these or letting it auto-fill but who knows. I then added the new credit card that I'm trying to use. Just now I was able to use that card for a ticket. So I have to assume that one of the fields was not filling properly - I don't fat-finger that badly, usually, so I'm still blaming the website! Thanks for the suggestions.
