I would try again. I, too, received a response saying any statement close date change would take 1 to 2 billing cycles to take effect. I started a new secure message thread and was able to get it changed instantly through another agent.

It is end of year processing for all of Southwest's RR accounts. There is always a delay of a couple of weeks each January because of this. The points from Chase normally take 2-3 business days...but in January all points from early month closing dates are around the 15th or so...whenever they finish the yearly accounting processing....patience! :-)

Statement closed 1/02 just recieved my points. I have another card that closes 1/04, points haven’t posted for that one yet.

my question is, if I use the points from the first card and the points from the second card hasn’t come in yet, can I still qualify for companion pass?

I just tried for a second time and this was their response

"We received your request to change the statement closing
date, and I'll be glad to assist you.

The option to move the current statement date is
not available, as your statement is already generated
(January 02, 2018).

The change to your statement closing date will take one to
two billing cycles to become effective and appear on your
statement. Please reply to this email, if you wish to
proceed with this change."

Maybe they're working backwards as my statement closed 1/1 on both of my cards and no points yet
