I think I saw somewhere that they had 16 there at the start so that might be all of them now, not counting any that might have been in that hangars at HOU.

Appears to me they've cancelled all flights from HOU through the end of the day on Friday, September 1st.

The Travel Advisory now covers HOU flights through Tuesday, Sept. 12th.

Tropical Storm Harvey

Based on the forecasted weather conditions for the cities listed below, our scheduled service may be disrupted (flights may be delayed, diverted, and/or cancelled):
  • Houston (HOU) - effective from August 24 through September 12
  • New Orleans (MSY) - effective from August 28 through September 5
  • Austin (AUS) - effective from August 24 through September 1
  • Corpus Christi (CRP) - effective from August 24 through September 1
  • Harlingen (HRL) - effective from August 24 through August 29
  • San Antonio (SAT) - effective from August 24 through September 1

Due to lasting impacts from Tropical Storm Harvey and to provide our Houston Customers additional flexibility, ticketed Passengers traveling to and from Houston may change their origin or destination without paying any additional charge to AUS, CRP, DAL or SAT if their original dates of travel are between Thursday, August 24 through Tuesday, September 12.

Customers who are holding reservations to, from, or through the cities and dates listed above and want to alter their travel plans, may rebook in the original class of service or travel standby (within 14 days of their original date of travel between the original city-pairs and in accordance with our accommodation procedures) without paying any additional charge.

Updated estimate that HOU (and IAH) will officially/formally re-open at 4:00pm today (Wednesday). However, I think all Southwest flights are already canceled today (and perhaps tomorrow too)

HOUSTON AIRPORTS PREPARES TO RESUME OPERATIONS AFTER HURRICANE HARVEY
The Houston Airports plans to resume limited domestic airline passenger service TODAY at 4 p.m. following severe weather caused by Hurricane Harvey. The plan is to begin a phased return to service, with full serice expected by this weekend. Contact your air carrier for specific flight status updates regarding your flight. Only those with a ticket for a confirmed scheduled flight should come to the airport. Many roads around the City of Houston are still unsafe for travel, therefore, we urge all passengers to take their time arriving to the airports and to solidify a safe route to and/or from our facilities.

As announced previously, Southwest has suspended operations at HOU until sometime after noon on Saturday, Sept. 2.

Edited to add: They're cancelling Saturday afternoon & evening flights now as well -- looks like it will be a reduced schedule once they do open back up.

When will we be back to normal

I just talked to a SW employee. She said the airport will not be back to full schedule for a few months. One thing she said is they will have no terminating flights for awhile (NO flights will overnight in Houston) cause there is not enough maintenance or no one to clean the flights at night. Which also means no originating flights out everyday. Means all flights for awhile will be coming from some other city. If you look at the schedule for the next week, all early AM flights are "sold out" .

Also, have to borrow TSA agents from other cities to man security.

So bottom line we will not be back to normal for awhile.
