Emeril's Orlando

My wife are heading to Orlando next month. She wants to try the Emeril's at Universal Studios.

Yeah?
Nay?
So-so?

There are not very many great spots to dine in Orlando in my opinion. Emerils is large crowded and noisy. I think its missing some of that Emeril BAM! Roy's, even though its a chain also is a bit less noisy and crowded. Its just like the one in Tampa if you have been there. I also suggest Victoria and Alberts at the Grand Floridian. I know its Disney but its the best I've seen Disney do. Also the dinner in France at Epcot is pretty good. Enjoy!

I think he (Emeril) also opened a Polynesian-style restaurant at Universal called Tchoup Chop or something to that effect. Only been to his restaurants in the Crescent City myself.

Le Coq au Vin (as in the chicken dish) is a better choice. It's off the beaten touristy path in Orlando but is well worth the drive or cab fare.

I have been to Emeril's places in NOLA and also in Orlando and found them good overall but way overpriced -- surprisingly mediocre for that price range IMO. You're essentially paying for huge portions and the celebrity "aura," if you will.

However, most of Emeril's places do have good -- but highly priced -- wine lists and really good desserts.
