Tradewinds Park on Sample Road. It is owned by Broward County and is also home to Butterfly World.

Not open this year because of Wilma.

Which one of the sites in southern Florida with Xmas lights (in past years) would not offer them this year (because of Wilma), and which others would offer them?

Has anyone gone to southern Florida this year (from West Palm Beach, through to the Keys) and can one comment whether there are any location with good intensive Xmas lights, taking account that hurricane Wilma may have prevented these lights from being put up?

PS-any good New Year's fireworks, in the FLL region?

I am staying in Miami for 1 week from Dec 28-Jan 4. I wonder if the responses to my question of a few years ago, are still valid.

Don't know if the FT Florida Forum existed when you originally posted, but there is now a dedicated Florida Forum.
So, moving this thread over to Florida.
Happy Holidays.

It's been a couple years since I lived there, (5) but I used to live one block away from a street where every house did it up huge. This is in Palm Beach County... drive north on I-95, exit on Forest Hill Blvd going west. Take the first right (Flamingo Drive). You will see the lights about 5 blocks down on your right. Enjoy!

When I was a student at University of Miami, I used to stop by the Clot House every year as they had incredible Christmas lights.

They have a website at: http://www.clotxmas.com/

I haven't been there since 2002, but it used to be really great.

It's 30 mins or so south of downtown Miami and is located near Palmetto High School if I recall correctly.

Are there any commercial (or private) attractions this year, with at least 1 million lights?

Having done research, I see that Santa's Enchanted Forest is one such site.

The link has details:

Mia:

Thank you, for your 2 responses.

Do you also have a link to the list of good commercial holiday lighting displays in southern Florida?

Lights in Sunrise/Plantation

You're welcome to come see my lights - they are unique in that they are computerized and you can select which song you would like the lights to dance to from a control box by the sidewalk. See http://lights.donlaw.com for more info.

There's also some good displays a little west of me including the Hyatt Christmas Extreme at http://interactive.sun-sentinel.com/...nholidaylights

There's also another house (two actually) with an outrageous number of lights - something like 400,000, near Hyatt. It is about 8 blocks north of Sunrise Blvd on the little road on the west side of the canal at Hiatus, then about 2 blocks west. Sorry I don't have the address.

The Intercoastal is a nice trip as well but you need a boat.

Happy hunting
My recollection from living in Ft. Lauderdale in the mid-1990s is that there are boat charters that go up & down the Intracoastal each evening to see the light displays. I would investigate something like this. The houses are generally pretty impressive and so are the lights. At least for south Florida.
